ARRIVING STUDENTS – WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

*All students should be fully vaccinated by Aug 18. If you won't be fully vaccinated, go to the UNVACCINATED tab.

  1. Go to the Safe Travels website and fill out the required forms (watch the step-by-step instructions for the Safe Travels website). Here’s a shortened list of what to do (follow these steps in order):
    1. Add your trip/flight information. You will need a government ID: U.S. driver’s license, visa, etc.
    2. Upload vaccine information. You will need to take a picture of your vaccination card and upload it as proof, in addition to filling out the forms. Note: must be PDF or JPG file.
    3. Complete the health questionnaire on the day of your flight.
    4. Receive exemption and QR code (scanned at airport, NOT BYUH).
  2. You are responsible for your transportation to the BYUH campus. Please work with a family member, friend, Uber, Lyft, or North Shore Express to make your way to campus.
  3. Send your vaccination information to BYUH Health Services (if you have not done so already).
  4. Enjoy your time at BYUH! Stay up to date on all the fun things there are to do at BYUH.

REMINDER

If you are vaccinated:

Send your vaccination information to BYUH Health Services if you haven’t already. BYUH accepts WHO approved vaccines

  1. Receive a COVID-19 test from a Hawaii trusted partner. “The test has to be taken 72 hours from the final leg of departure and the negative COVID-19 test result uploaded to the Safe Travels platform or printed out and in hand prior to departure to Hawai‘i in order to avoid the 10-day quarantine.”
    1. If you cannot afford a test from a trusted partner or your results will not be available in time to receive an exemption, please apply for Modified Quarantine as soon as possible (see steps below).

    2. Upload your negative test result. These documents must be in PDF format.
      • If the result is not in yet, then you will not be exempt from quarantine.
      • You should apply for the Modified Quarantine program if you think your test will not be ready in time.
      • If your test result is positive, you will be informed by Safe Travels/the state of Hawaii on what to do. Please inform BYUH Residential Life and Travel Services if you will be delayed.
      • Complete the health questionnaire on the day of your flight.
      • Receive exemption and QR code.
  3. You are responsible for your transportation to the BYUH campus unless you are a participant in the Modified Quarantine program, then the university will provide a shuttle for you and you should contact Travel Service for further details. Please work with a family member, friend, Uber, Lyft, or North Shore Express to make your way to campus.
  4. Get vaccinated at BYUH.
    1. Set an appointment to be vaccinated on campus.
    2. Send your vaccination information to BYUH Health Services (if you have not done so already).
  5. Enjoy your time at BYUH! Stay up to date on all the fun things there are to do at BYUH.

    Modified Quarantine (MQ)

    The Modified Quarantine (MQ) program is a limited exemption that is authorized by the state and administered by the University.

    1. Modified Quarantine (MQ) is only for students who CANNOT get an exemption through the Safe Travels program.
    2. You NEED to apply for MQ if you:
      1. Are not vaccinated in the U.S. and cannot receive an approved COVID-19 test.
      2. Are traveling on an international flight and cannot receive an approved COVID-19 test.
      3. For whatever other reason, cannot receive an exemption from Hawaii through Safe Travels.
