Culture Night showcases the cultural diversity of BYU–Hawaii through dance and performance, reflecting the university’s longstanding tradition of intercultural exchange and unity that dates back to the vision articulated at its founding — where students from many backgrounds shared in community and understanding.
Important Attendance Update
Due to capacity and safety considerations, admission to the Cannon Activities Center (CAC) for Culture Night is limited to:
- Current BYU–Hawaii students and their dependents with valid ID
- Invited university guests
The general public, including faculty and staff, will not be admitted inside the CAC for the main performance.
Viewing Options for Family & Community
Community members are warmly invited to:
- Join a watch party and view the live stream on a large outdoor screen in the Aloha Plaza while enjoying food vendors and the Culture Night atmosphere.

- Photography and video recording will not be permitted.
- This is a rehearsal, not the final performance.
- Some performers may not be present due to work or academic commitments.
- Some clubs may not be in full costume.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to provide a meaningful experience for the students.
Parking
- Parking is free but limited in the main parking lot
- Accessible parking is available behind the CAC in the gym parking lot
CAC Admission
- Entry limited to current BYU–Hawaii students and student dependents (valid ID required) and invited university guests
- Admission is free
- Seating is limited
- Doors open for student seating at 5:30 pm
- Invited University Guests seating starts at 6 pm
- Guests should be seated by 6:45 pm
Once capacity is reached, no additional entry will be permitted.
Entry Locations
- Guest Entrance: All guests will enter from the statue side of the building. Students and their dependents must have a valid student or dependent ID.
- Performer Entrance: The Aloha Plaza side entrance is reserved for performers and musicians only. The CAC exterior facing the Aloha Plaza will serve as a staging area for participating clubs.
Invited University Guest Access
- Invited university guests will receive wristbands
- Wristbands must be worn on the left hand for event and reserved seating access
Prohibited Items
- Backpacks and large bags
- Balloons
- Firearms or weapons
- Alcoholic beverages
- Smoking or vaping devices or tobacco
- Loud noise makers
- Strollers are not permitted inside the building
Campus Security may conduct bag checks prior to entry.
Overflow Viewing

- Outdoor viewing on the big screen in Aloha Plaza with food vendors
Dress & Grooming
Culture Night follows the CES Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations. Invited university guests are encouraged to dress in accordance with university guidelines.
Seating
- Invited University Guest Seating: Reserved section managed by Student Leadership & Service
- General Seating: First-come, first-served
- Seat Saving: Not permitted
- Ushers will assist with seating and direct guests toward the center of rows
- Aisles and exits must remain clear
- No sitting on stairs
- No standing in exit portals
- Please use restrooms during video segments when possible
- Remain in designated seating areas and respect performers
A live stream of the performance will be projected on a large screen in the McKay Building side of the plaza.
- Blankets are encouraged for seating on the turf closest to the screen. Foldable chairs are also permitted on the turf.
- Food vendors will be available beginning at 5:30 pm on either side of the plaza.
- Open to the general public, faculty, staff, family, and community members.
- The Academic Oval will be blocked from vehicles between Hale 1 and past the Lorenzo Snow Administration Building.
- The Aloha Plaza side entrance of the CAC and the nearby area will serve as a staging area for performing clubs.

This allows performers to rehearse in a focused environment and protects the integrity of the official performance.
